The Creative Match

A Collaborative Program With Manic World Magazine
In this program, applicants are matched with another writer based on their preferred genres, interests, and writing styles. Over the course of three months, each pair works together to create an original poem or short story through discussion, drafting, and feedback.

The goal of the project is to encourage collaboration between writers who may not otherwise have the opportunity to work together, resulting in a piece that reflects both contributors' creative voices.

Breaking Nina

by Ririe
This piece traces one girl’s fixation on Nina—the fastest, brightest presence in her world. What begins as admiration slowly distorts into something more uneasy, revealing how a desire to belong can take on violent forms.

A Quiet Conclusion

By Reagan Westerly
This poem is a quiet examination of what it means to be “finished” while still alive. This piece contrasts the blunt honesty of the dead with the unsettling composure of the living, tracing how repetition, language, and learned remorse can smooth over truth until stillness begins to resemble closure.
